The Missouri Product Stewardship Council (MO PSC) is a coalition of local governments, businesses, and other stakeholders that aim to reduce local waste management costs, increase waste minimization and resource recovery, raise recycling rates, and create jobs through a product stewardship approach. The Product Stewardship Institute (PSI) helped establish and serves as coordinator for this Council.
Product Stewardship Councils (PSCs) around the country work with industry, government, and waste management stakeholders to create product stewardship programs to manage these harmful and challenging products. These programs seek to hold have manufacturers play a greater role in for minimizing the impacts consumer products. When manufacturers share managerial and financial responsibility for managing their products at end‐of‐life with consumers, governments, recyclers, and other stakeholders, they create products that are less toxic and more easily recycled.
